Babies

It's a dangerous job, learning to stand and walk; Maryam would attest to this! After two falls close together in time, she was bummed out. But her new friends quickly rallied together to cheer her up. She loves to play with the pots and pans, so they helped her make alphabet soup.

What is it with babies' fascination with the buckle of their high chair? It's a common obsession for babies, at least from what I have seen. At least 2 or 3 falls have occurred while Maryam is standing by her high chair, determined to figure out just how that buckle fastens. This multitasking (standing AND fiddling with the high chair straps) proves to be too much for her, and she loses her balance. I could cover up the seat with the tray, but then I would be taking away one of her all-time favourite activities, and that just seems cruel. ;)

Thomas had a great idea the other day: to make the dining room chairs into a car or a train! We've done this before, but it's been a while, and I had forgotten all about this activity option.

They had been playing babies, so we needed some car seats for the back. We did not put them rear-facing, but I'm sure Thomas will be on top of this by the next time we play. He'll be learning a lot about babies by helping to care for his baby brother Drew.

So cute. They grow up so fast.

Meet the daycare's newest cutie-pie: Marcus!

He is pretty tiny for a 1-year-old, and yet quite strong!

He wanted to be with the gang while they did some Valentine's crafts, so he came up and had an extra snack in his high chair....and played with some paper hearts.

We found out what makes him laugh: silly sounds. We were reading and singing the "Old MacDonald" book, and when I made the pig sounds he had good little chuckle.

I also learned that he loves tickles. And I'm pretty sure he likes crawling tag, which is great because it is also one of baby Maryam's favourite games. (She was away today, but they will have a hoot together!)

It is merely his first day today, so we are all learning about his likes and dislikes. I am excited to get to know him better. He is absolutely adorable, so he fits in just fine around here. ;)Amadea is still away on vacation but should be back any day. It will be great to have the whole gang together!
